Changes in ATP Sulfurylase Activity in Response to Altered Cyanobacteria Growth Conditions
نویسندگان
چکیده
We investigated variations in cell growth and ATP Sulfurylase (ATPS) activity when two cyanobacterial strains—Synechocystis sp. PCC6803 Synechococcus WH7803—were grown conventional media, media with low ammonium, sulfate a high CO2/low O2 atmosphere. In both organisms, transition adaptation to the reconstructed environmental resulted decrease ATPS activity. This variation appears be decoupled from rate, suggesting enzyme is not rate-limiting S assimilation raising questions about role of redox regulation physiology throughout Earth history.

Stress response in cyanobacteria
Cyanobacteria are an important source of natural products. In this article, we briefly review the responses of cyanobacteria to different stresses. Abiotic stresses (temperature, salt, heavy metals, metalloid and ultraviolet (UV) influence cell growth and metabolism in cyanobacteria. Salt stress is a major abiotic factor that decrease...
متن کاملEffect of ATP sulfurylase overexpression in bright yellow 2 tobacco cells. Regulation Of atp sulfurylase and SO4(2-) transport activities.
To determine if the ATP sulfurylase reaction is a regulatory step for the SO4(2-)-assimilation pathway in plants, an Arabidopsis thaliana ATP sulfurylase cDNA, APS2, was fused to the 35S promoter of the cauliflower mosaic virus and introduced by Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation into isolated Bright Yellow 2 tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) cells. The ATP sulfurylase activity in tran...
متن کاملDiversity and regulation of ATP sulfurylase in photosynthetic organisms
ATP sulfurylase (ATPS) catalyzes the first committed step in the sulfate assimilation pathway, the activation of sulfate prior to its reduction. ATPS has been studied in only a few model organisms and even in these cases to a much smaller extent than the sulfate reduction and cysteine synthesis enzymes. This is possibly because the latter were considered of greater regulatory importance for sul...
متن کاملDevelopment of Sulfate Uptake Capacity and ATP-Sulfurylase Activity during Root Elongation in Maize.
Sulfate uptake capacity and ATP-sulfurylase activity were determined in maize roots (Zea mays L. var. XL 363 and mutant XL 363 o2) at increasing root length. The pattern of uptake showed a close similarity to that of ATP-sulfurylase, both activities reaching the maximum level at 9 and 10 cm root length in the XL 363 and XL 363 o2 hybrids, respectively. In addition to the shift of the maximum, o...
